Pre-Order Now

I'm brimming with excitement and anticipation for my new album "Lucid" now that I have finally decided upon the title and an official release date of June, 2011! Of course, if you already pre-ordered a copy, you'll get it a bit earlier than that : ) "Lucid" is one of my favorite new songs as it truly encapsulates the industrial sounds I've come to love in artists like Kate Bush, Imogen Heap and Florence + the Machine. It also highlights the potential of this new software I'm using (Ableton Live) to build the foundation of nearly every song on this album. "Lucid" is really an anchor song for the album as it is the first song I wrote about the dream world which quickly inspired a slue of additional dream-themed songs. It became a perfect opportunity to hone in on my long anticipated attempt to create a "concept" album. In my personal experiences, dreams have been a vital part of self-awareness and I learn a great deal about things through my dreams so I essentially wanted to set "a night in the dreams of Gregory Douglass" to music.

Mission Statement

The music industry is currently undergoing significant, historical changes as major record labels continue to ignore the interests of intelligent audiences. Today’s music fans want quality, artist-driven material.  Consequently, a teeming independent music marketplace has emerged worldwide within the music industry in the past decade. This new marketplace spotlights independent artists who create, produce, promote and finance their music to their fans through both traditional and innovative means of print, radio, television and the worldwide web.

Within the last decade, the mass majority of record labels have experienced significant losses among record sales as a result of the digital music revolution and its surge of illegal downloading. Consequently, many labels have folded altogether. Labels that remain are dropping newly signed artists from their rosters and have revised their artist agreement terms and conditions in ways that are compelling many established artists to seek alternatives. In 2007 alone, well-known artists like Madonna, Joni Mitchell and Paul Mcartney
abandoned their long-standing relationships with their record labels to pursue new, unconventional outlets with touring companies and retail corporations that are being tagged as “artist labels.” In other cases, such well-known bands as Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails declared sole independence. As the music industry continues to reshape itself, it is essential that independent artists use similar innovative means of exposure while maintaining creative control with the help of financial backing through patrons and investors.

With this universal pandemonium at the forefront, Gregory Douglass, will release his eighth full-length, studio album in his collection of nationally acclaimed releases under his own independent record label, Emote Records. The album will appeal to a broad audience demographic through universal themes of love and personal growth, as well as timely issues regarding the world’s political state of affairs in true Douglass form.  A value network already exists for Douglass within the strength and consistency of his prolific discography.  Continuous praise for Douglass’ music and nearly 12 years of grassroots promotional effort has secured an allegiance of dedicated fans across the globe.

Due to the efficient and low-cost operational structure of Emote Records, a reasonable and realistic budget for the release of the album is being presented. The release will focus on targeted U.S., Canadian and European markets through a strong publicity push leading up to its release date, generating extensive exposure for the new album. Digital music sales are likely to recover the majority of money invested, along with physical online album sales, live performance album sales, and various forms of merchandise sales. The Emote
Records team is confident that an alliance with potential patrons will bring the music of Gregory Douglass to a much wider fan base around the globe.

“I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate
from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure
to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.”
-Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails
